In its Precision Sensing Lecture Series, International Institute for Biosensing (IIB) is proud to host David Croson (DC). DC is a Harvard PhD with years of venture capital and startup experience. He has 25 years of experience in business school and economics education, with expertise in technology strategy, IT investment analysis, analysis of entrepreneurial ventures, and startup strategy. Between 2010-12, he served as a Program Director at the US National Science Foundation (NSF). While he was a business-school faculty member, his research focused on entrepreneurial strategy, critical decisions at early stages of business development, the value of information in decision-making, and managing risk in high-stakes decisions. He joined the Research and Innovation Office (RIO) at the University of Minnesota as of August 2024 and has been working with the International Institute for BioSensing and Minnesota Bioinnovation Accelerator (MnBA) in various projects.
In his talk "Early Bad News Is Real(l)y Good News", DC would discuss the value of getting bad news quickly and early -- both as a value driver for sensors and as pivot opportunity for ventures. This talk is the starting of the upcoming IIB Entrepreneurship talks starting from Fall 2026.
