IIB is pleased to announce the addition of two distinguished members to its Advisory Committee: Christy Haynes and Abbas Abdennour. Their appointments mark an important step in strengthening the Institute’s capacity to expand its outreach and deepen its interdisciplinary expertise.
Dr. Haynes is a Department Head, Distinguished McKnight University Professor at Department of Chemistry at UMN. She brings extensive experience in analytical chemistry, biosensing, and translational research, with a strong track record of connecting fundamental science to real-world applications. Her perspective will support IIB’s mission to advance innovative sensing technologies and foster meaningful collaborations across disciplines.
Dr Abbas is an associate professor at Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering at UMN. He adds valuable expertise in bionanotechnology, rapid Diagnostics, food Safety, and iIndustry partnership. His experience will enhance the Institute’s efforts to broaden its industrial network, build impactful collaborations, and increase visibility across academic, industry, and public sectors.
Together, these new advisory members will play a key role in guiding IIB’s strategic direction—helping to amplify its outreach initiatives, strengthen cross-sector partnerships, and further position the Institute as a leader in integrative biosensing and translational science.
