During the IRSA 2025 Conference: Statistics, Agriculture and the Environment, IIB director Patricia Khashayar presented on "Transforming Agriculture with Precision Sensing: The International Institute for BioSensing Approach." This talk focused on how cutting-edge sensing technologies and data-driven methods are reshaping the future of agriculture—making it more precise, efficient, and sustainable. She also emphasized on how IIB is trying to play a crucial role in bringing experts from these fields together to make more impactful solutions.
The conference showcased a wealth of insightful talks at the intersection of agriculture and statistics, demonstrating the vital role this synergy plays in tackling today’s environmental and agricultural challenges. In other talks in the same day other experts such as Prof. Matthias Katzfuss (University of Wisconsin–Madison), Prof. Dorit Hammerling (Colorado School of Mines), and Josh Dorr. (Honeywell) provided insightful talks on generative modeling of spatial distrubutions, how to interpret the data collected from methane monitoring sensors (a mathematical approach) and new advanced sensors and technologies in the field of aerospace and how to apply them in agriculture, respectively.
This all highlights the interdisciplinary nature of the field and how these skills and expertise should work together to achieve a more impactful solution and a more sustainable world, the IIB mission.
